General up date

Evening All,

just a quick word and what's been happening of late. Firstly, thought the hog roast went well, and thanks to all who put in the effort it was great to see so mant faces and every body enjoying the weather...Big thanks to Patrick & Liz.

Apple picking: As many of you will know we are collecting apples for the Saighton blend of apple juice for the coming Apple weekend in October. We have already got a good head start two weeks ago, with many apples being picked from village trees' (thanks for those of you who helped out and gave up your apples - even if you did not know it at the time!)

I must say though, the fruit harvest seems to be a couple of weeks early, and I'm not sure if the apple will last - think a call to the estate is needed...

Blackberrying: Bumper lot this year with a real "rook" of fruit in the hedge lines. We did propose a village blackberrying day, but time is slipping by. Mike Davies has kindly said villages can have access to his fields for the picking of said fruit, but please be mindful of the usual code of shutting gates etc. If you are doing some this weekend please do post a reply/e-mail so folk could meet up.

News letter: Mike, Clair and Mal are producing a village news letter which hopefully the three musketeers postal service will get to you soon - watch your post boxes!

Other events: Halloween /Souling and bonfire night.
Pumpkin making - more to follow
Halloween/Souling. - more to follow
Build a guy on Nov 2nd - more to follow
Burn the guy Nov 5th!
Remembrance day.11th Nov. Nearest Sunday(Sun 8th) It will be a year since Mike, Mikes dad, Mal and myself cleaned up the small plaque for the village fallen of 1914-1918.
If enough people are interested I intend to contact the school and be there on 11:00 on the 11th for a new poppy tribute to be laid. More details when I have it.

All good stuff. A meeting of the existing village hall committee (what's left of it) with our self's will take place soon to scope out future possibilities for the village hall use. I would like to think this will then involve a following general meeting for all to have a say. Any ideas most welcome , but we will keep you posted.

Regards
to all

Gary
